On Wednesday afternoon we noticed a flow of signups originating from envylabs.com. As developers we’ve certainly heard of Envy Labs but didn’t know why we’d be getting traffic via their site.
The powers of the Internet quickly revealed the cause. Users were arriving from a new episode of the Ruby5 Podcast, produced by Envy Labs. The keen-gem (our official Ruby client) was featured amongst some very cool Ruby-based technologies including Linepipe and Pinglish.
Podcast hosts Paul Elliot and Matthew Conway say the following about Keen IO and the keen-gem:
“You send Keen IO your metrics. You let them worry about the heavy lifting for analysis, and the learning curve for data visualization. Just use the APIs.”
“The keen-gem wraps these API’s, so you can build analytics features into your apps.”
“Ok this is awesome. I think I’m going to replace a few of my homemade metrics solutions with keen-gem.”
A podcast after our own, data-loving heart!!
But in all seriousness, that is what we do. We eliminate the burdens and wheel-reinventing that come with building your own analytics stack. As a result, you get meaningful insights into your own hands much faster than you would otherwise. Not to mention cheaper.
The Ruby5 Podcast covers the latest news in the Ruby and Rails community and is excellent. The ‘5’ means 5 minutes. If you operate at a permanent attention deficit like me you’ll enjoy the podcast’s fast-paced, information-dense format.
This was a special moment for me personally, having a piece of software I wrote featured in a podcast. Thanks Envy Labs and Ruby 5!
