Gumball Uses Keen IO for Real-Time Reporting

Today I learned about how one of new customers, Gumball, uses Keen IO to provide analytics to their customers. Here’s how their CTO, Carlos Cervantes, explained it to me over a quick email:

Gumball hosts giveaways for fashion brands to engage social media, acquire new customers, and get exposure. We do this through multiple distribution channels. One of these is the Gumball Ambassador program. Fashion Bloggers can sign up to become a Gumball Ambassador at ambassador.getgumball.com. Once they are up and running, they can generate a widget to place onto their blog which allows them to co-host our giveaways on their site.”

“We realized that Ambassadors would want to see near real-time analytics for their widgets performance on their blog. Building an analytics system means being able to scale up to hundreds of concurrent micro requests. We didn’t want to spend 2–3 weeks building a proper scalable solution that we could be proud of. So we decided to use Keen IO and spend a day instead.”

– Carlos Cervants — CTO @ Gumball

Below you can see a sample of the reporting page that shows Ambassadors how users are interacting with their widgets.
