Rose Broome, Co-Founder and CEO of HandUp spoke at KeenCon about Data-Informed Product Design.

Data is powerful, but it can also be dangerous. It’s important to consider how, when, and where you use your data. From creating a data culture to identifying when data lies, Rose walks us through the best way to use our data with a few tips and tricks along the way. Spanning academia, technology, and politics, Rose’s background in data has informed her decision-making from Obama ’08 to her current role as CEO and founder at HandUp. This talk provides a clear understanding of why data should be your copilot.

About Rose Broome

Rose is passionate about using the power of technology to create social change. She is the co-founder and CEO of HandUp, a direct donation system for homeless people and neighbors in need, where 100% of funds go towards basics like food, medical care, and housing through partnering social service organizations. Just this past year, HandUp was named the Most Innovative Startup of the Day by Fast Company and won the 1776 Global Challenge Cup Competition. Rose and co-founder Zac Witte were also named Top People in Tech by Business Insider. Previously, Rose served as COO at SuperBetter Labs and as a Data Manager for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Rose studied Campaign Management at Santa Clara University and Psychological Research at San Francisco State University. She lives in San Francisco and is an organizer of Science Hack Day and Tech for Good SF.
